Soleil[edit | edit source]

A race mainly found in the northern continent of Razeldawn, they are a muscular race that is rarely seen in the northern part of the continent of Terastier. They are tall, extremely well-proportioned, and have massive muscular beauty. They tend to have beautiful men and women, with cheerful, positive, easy-going and optimistic personalities. Soleil are thought to be the dependents of the sun god, Tidan, and were originally found in less civilized and undeveloped areas such as jungles and archipelago regions. However, they are thought to have spread to other parts of the world after being washed ashore on fishing expeditions. Characteristically for the race, they can make their own bodies glow instantly, blinding their enemies. They are also highly resistant to sleep during the day and can recover their HP from exposure to sunlight. On the contrary, they sleep quickly at night. While they have extremely high strength, their intelligence and spirit are weak. They also tend to be reluctant to wear armor, perhaps to show off their bodies. They often have tattoos of the sun on their bodies. Their lifespan is thought to be about 300 years.

Starting Languages: Soleil can speak, Trade Common, as well as speak Soleilian.
Restricted Classes: None
Starting Soulscars: 0

Racial Abilities[edit | edit source]

[Radiant Physique]: The Soleil makes their body glow with a Minor Action, blinding or disorienting those nearby. Choose one character (or any one section) at the same coordinates as the target. The target suffers a -2 penalty to Accuracy, Evasion, and Spellcasting checks for 10 seconds (1 round). This effect is treated as "Resist: Can't", and can be cast regardless of the target's perception or Intelligence. However, if the character is wearing Metal Armor, the penalty is reduced to -1. This effect can only be used once per day.
[Photosynthesis]: By exposing themselves to sunlight for 10 minutes, Soleil are able to recover 10 HP. This effect can be used every 10 minutes for up to a total of 1 hour per day (for a total of 60 points).
Recovery from this effect is treated separately from sleep, but you must concentrate on this effect.
[Child of the Sun]: From 6am to just before 6pm, the Soleil receives a +4 bonus to Fortitude and Willpower checks against Psychic-Type effects, whether indoors or outdoors. However, between 6pm and just before 6am, they receive a -4 penalty to Fortitude and Willpower checks against Psychic-Type effects.

6th Level: The Soleil's "Radiant Physique" is now able to affect a wider area, becoming "Target: 6m/20".

They are characterized by large, hairy ears, and males often have rich beards. They live underground or in the ruins of Magitech Civilization, either alone or in family units, and are rarely seen. During the Magitech Civilization Period, they are credited with contributing to its development and shows great talent in the use of items and in magitech. They have the ability to disappear and avoid the public eye as much as possible. However, when they meet someone they fancy, they become quite attached. Introduction of New Races[edit | edit source]

New Races[edit | edit source]

The newly added Valkyrie, Soleil, and Leprechaun are all races rarely found throughout Terastier. Because of this, even adventurers have rarely encountered them until now. However, despite their infrequent encounters, they were not entirely unknown. It was simply that they were rarely involved in society. Starting with this book, characters from the above three races will also be able to travel the world as adventurers. Each of them has their own unique qualities that will help them in their adventures. They will help you overcome many hardships and make your adventures more fruitful. More information about the races can be found on page 156. Please refer to this page for more information on races and how to use them in your adventures.

New Races of Humanoids and their souls[edit | edit source]

The Valkyrie, Soleil, and Leprechaun added in this book are classified as humanoids. As such, they are subject to the effects of magic such as [Fear] and [Vice Weapon]. They can basically be considered hostile to Barbarous. In general, they are regarded as friends by the other races, and are welcomed by adventurers. The three new races in this book are all rare and in some cases unrecognized by the general public. As a result, they are sometimes mistaken for other races (humans for Valkyrie and Soleil, dwarves or grass runners for Leprechauns). However, they are not particularly shunned, and are often just perceived as "a little odd". Valkyrie, Soleil, and Leprechaun are all confident and take pride in their lives, standing tall and proud in their own way. People who avoid them are also few and far between on the continent of Terastier, so they don’t face any major sort of discrimination.

The Human-like Valkyries
Valkyries are born to human parents, and are treated socially almost the same as humans. Valkyrie are said to have special souls, but they are treated no differently than any other species. Many Valkyries are raised in temples or similar environments as apostles of the gods, so when they die, their guardians may not allow them to be resurrected. However, the Valkyrie herself can be resurrected normally, and the same is true of the Valkyrie, who accumulates "soul scars" just as humans do and becomes undead (Revenants) when she reaches 5 soul scars as any human would. Valkyries are only ever female. If they become male for some reason, they will lose all of their Valkyrie traits and become human. However, they will not be able to use the human racial trait of "Blessing of the Sword/Changing Fate". Once they become a woman again, everything will return to normal.

Soleil, the Tall Folk
Soleils are often seen by the uninformed as "tall savages". They are, however, not often mistaken for Barbarous, so not particularly shunned. Soleils accumulate "Soul Scars" and turn undead (Revenants) as any humanoid would. Because many of them are devout followers of the sun god Tidan, they are said to have a stronger aversion to the Unholy than other races, and tend to abhor the undead. It is said that this is why the normally cheerful Soleil tends to become quite depressed when they have accumulated a lot of soul scars. However, this has no particular effect on the game.

Leprechauns, The Lucky Charms
Leprechauns are sometimes regarded as good luck charms because they are rarely seen, as well as their proficiency in the arcane arts and legends of how they saved artisans. They have souls, of course, and like other races, they will accumulate soul scars when they are brought back to life. They start at 0 soul scars and become undead (revenants) at 5 soul scars as any other humanoid.

Note: New Races and Hybrids
Valkyrie, like humans, can procreate with humans, elves, dwarves, shadows, newman, and miakis. They can also have children with Soleil. The chance of a Valkyrie being born to a Valkyrie is no different than the chance of a normal Valkyrie being born to a human. There have been instances where Soleils have sired children with humans and Valkyrie. Leprechauns are not known to have sired children with other species. However, some believe that it is possible with humans, as there are stories that tell of such unions.

Additional Languages[edit | edit source]

Soleilian
A rare language in which the speaker expresses themselves mainly through gestures, poses, and hand signals. It is possible to communicate without vocalization, but in general conversation, shouting is usually added to increase expressiveness. While it is possible to communicate without speech, it is completely useless if you are immobile. When a person is partially restrained, he or she can only communicate in very limited vocabulary. There is no written language in Soleilian. It is a purely conversational language.
