Miakis[edit | edit source]

A race of elusive beings with large, cat-like ears and long, hairy, slender tails. The most unique feature of Miakis is that they can transform into the form of a cat. It is quite difficult to recognize a Miakis when they are in the cat form. Miakis love freedom and nature, and live a primitive life in the forests and deep in the mountains, but some of them even take the form of cats and live in the cities of the humanoids. They are as agile as they look, and by utilizing their ability to transform at will, they can excel as scouts. When they transform into their cat form, they drop most of their equipment, but they can still fight with their claws and fangs, and they can also talk and use fairy magic and sacred magic, so they are capable of a wide range of tasks. Miakis are considered adults at about 10 years old, and have a lifespan of about 60 years.

Starting Languages: Miakis can speak, read and write Trade Common, as well as speak Miakisian.
Restricted Classes: None
Starting Soulscars: 0

Racial Abilities[edit | edit source]

[Darkvision]: Miakis can see in the darkness as well as they can during daytime.
[Cat Transformation]: You can transform into a cat with a major action. When you transform, you will take the form of a large cat, and all equipment and accessories other than Ears and Neck will fall to the ground. In cat form, you cannot equip any accessories other than those in the Ears and Neck slots. In addition to weapons and armor, you cannot use items. You will not be able to perform actions that require your hands, but your abilities scores will remain the same, and you will still be able to talk to others. It takes 3 MP to transform into a cat, and 3 MP to transform back into your original form. Returning to your original form is also a major action. There is no time limit on how long you can stay transformed.
[Unleash the Beast]: You gain the B-rank Wrestling weapon “Claw”. In addition, you can use Adventurer Level + Agility Bonus for Tumble checks. When in cat form, you also gain the B-rank Melee weapon "Bite". However, when in cat form, you can no longer throw.

Enhanced Racial Abilities[edit | edit source]

6th Level: When using [Cat Transformation], in addition to the cat form, you can choose to take on the full-fledged human form (i.e. hiding your cat-like features). This also consumes MP.
11th Level: In addition, when using [Cat Transformation] and choosing transform into this "human" form, you can take the form of another person (limited to "Race: Human") that they are personally familiar with.

Dark Dwarf[edit | edit source]

The Dark Dwarves are the descendants of the ancient dwarves who betrayed the human race during the War of the Gods and swore allegiance to the barbarous kings. However, they don't have soulscars, and are essentially humanoids. Dark Dwarves do not look much different from ordinary Dwarves. However, because they have been living in the underworld for a long time, their skin is pale and their hair is mostly white, silver, or light gold. Their eyes, on the other hand, are usually red or black, and their pupils are so large that the whites of their eyes may not be visible in some cases. They are short and muscular, and males have beards. Females, like most dwarves, stop growing when they are about the size of a young human girl. In Barbarous society, the Dark Dwarves hold a prominent position as blacksmiths and are constantly developing new weapons and armor. As a result, there are those who come to the surface in search of new knowledge and skills that cannot be obtained in the underworld. As PCs, there are those who have remembered their humanity while living with the humans above ground. These dark dwarves have given up on returning to the underworld and have become adventurers to gain the trust of the people. They live to be about 200 years old, and are considered adults at 15.

Starting Languages: Dark Dwarves can speak, read and write Trade Common, Barbaric and Dwarven.
Restricted Classes: None
Starting Soulscars: 0

Racial Abilities[edit | edit source]

[Darkvision]: Dark Dwarves can see in the darkness as well as they can during daytime.
[Black Flame Master]: Applies a black flame to weapons, fists, arrows, etc. to increase their damage. The user can declare this as a Minor Action, changing the physical and magical damage he causes with his melee and ranged attacks to fire, increasing the extra damage by 3 points. This effect lasts for 10 seconds (1 round), but is only effective for the first damage done. If you are dealing damage to more than one target at the same time, it will only work once for each. This effect is also effective against opponents who are immune to fire or who have the Sword's Salvation/Flame Body. This effect can be used in 10 second (1 round) intervals, for a total of 1 minute (6 rounds) per day. When you use this effect, you lose 3 HP.

Enhanced Racial Abilities[edit | edit source]

6th Level: When using [Black Flame Master] the Dark Dwarf can choose to spend 5 points of HP to deal 5 points of additional damage.
11th Level: By spending 7 points of HP, you can choose to deal 5 points of additional damage, and also reduce the defense of the target hit by the attack by 2 points for 10 seconds (1 round). This effect is not cumulative.

Column Handling of Dark Dwarves[edit | edit source]

Technically, Dark Dwarves are classified as humanoids. They also have 0 points of "Soulscars" and are subject to magical effects that would affect humanoids. However, the mentality of Dark Dwarves is almost the same as that of Barbarous, and they are treated like Barbarous PCs in humanoid society. Therefore, when creating and running a Dark Dwarf PC, in addition to requiring GM permission, please refer to the "Guidelines for Using Barbarous PCs in Humanoid Society" in Barbarous Tales and Barbarous Book. Without gaining reputation from Sword Shards and earning some sort of status within civilized society, they will be treated as a Barbarous by NPCs.

Determining Ability Scores[edit | edit source]

After rolling for the Ability Scores A-F according to the table below, each value is added to the core Ability Scores Skill, Body and Mind given in the character's starting Background above.

"1d" means to roll one die, "2d" means to roll two dice and add them together, "2d+6" means to roll dice and add 6 to the total. Write the values into the corresponding column on the character sheet.
