Melee Weapons (Alchemist Works)[edit | edit source]

  • ※Category

Sword, Axe, etc. are described as such. This also affects the 《Weapon Proficiency/**》 Combat Feat.

  • ※Rank

For weapons, there are four ranks: B, A, S, and SS. B-Rank equipment can be equipped by anyone. A-Rank equipment requires the appropriate 《Weapon Proficiency/**》 or 《Armor Proficiency/**》 Combat Feat, while S-Rank equipment requires 《Weapon Proficiency II/**》 or 《Armor Proficiency II/**》 to be used without issue.

All SS-Rank weapons are treated as magical weapons, and the Combat Feat 《Weapon Master》 is required in order to use such powerful equipment. They cannot be wielded in any other way. SS-Rank equipment also cannot be custom-forged, but they can eventually be made into a character's Favored Weapon or Armor.

  • 1. Name

The name of the weapon. Weapons listed with an ⁂ in their name are magic weapons. While they are effective against certain monsters, they cannot be enchanted further, due to their innate enchantments already on the weapon.

Weapons with a ⚔ icon in the Notes column are slashing weapons, whereas those with a ⚒ icon are bludgeoning weapons. Some rare few have both, and will have notes describing how the weapon works.

  • 2. Stance

The number of hands required to use the weapon effectively. Also notes whether or not the weapon can be thrown, as well as methods of usage. The notations are as follows.

  • [1H]: Requires one hand to wield.
  • [2H]: Requires both hands to wield.
  • [1H†]: Allows either one or two hands to wield. Data for 2-handed stance is included immediately below.
  • [1H*]: Can be used as a throwing weapon. If thrown, counts as a Thrown missile weapon instead of it's normal category.
  • [1H#]: Does not use the hands, but is still treated as a 1-handed weapon.
  • [2Hᵴ]: This weapon has multiple stances, and deals slashing damage.
  • [2Hᵱ]: This weapon has multiple stances, and deals piercing damage.
  • 3. Min STR

Stands for Minimum Strength. A PC needs to have a Strength equal to or exceeding the listed Strength to equip that item. If their strength is greater than this number, they can equip the weapon or armor. PC cannot equip weapons and armor that exceed their own strength. There are also restrictions depending on the class. When equipping multiple weapons and armor, these numbers do not add up.

  • 4. Accuracy

Shows how accurate each weapon is. Modifies the Accuracy check when using that weapon.

  • 5. Power

The Power of the weapon. A results of a roll of 2d, when compared to the chart ranging from 3-12 for each weapon, determines the damage calculation.

  • 6. Crit Rate

Shorthand for "Critical Threshold". When attacking, if the total of your dice alone meet or exceed the Crit Rate, your attack is a critical.

  • 7. Extra

This stands for Extra Damage dealt by this weapon.

  • 8. Price

The price of weapons, armor, items, etc. Listed in Gamels (G). Unwanted equipment can be bought back for half the listed price.

  • 9. Notes

In the “Notes” column, as with most items, notes and data reference pages (books) are listed. Some of them are special ones that appear only in the Weapon Lists.

Edged and Bludgeoning Weapons
For most weapons, the icons are noted after the name. This indicates whether the weapon is an edged weapon or a bludgeoning weapon, and in some cases, depending on the monster, this weapon type may affect the game, for example by causing resistance. The presence of both icons means that the weapon can be used in either type. Unless otherwise noted in the detailed data, the choice of which type of weapon to use can be made by the user each time an Accuracy check is performed. Some weapons fall into neither category nor do not have this written on them. In particular, all guns have no such categories.

Silvered
Weapons made of silver can give damage to monsters with the [Normal Weapon Immunity] unique skill. Also, silver weapons may increase damage with a weak point.

  • 10. Description

By pressing the "+" at next to the item, you can expand it's description. Listed in this field you'll find the items description, detailing it's physical apperance. In some cases, if the item has a special effect, that effect will be detailed there as well.

  • 11. Effect Description

Popularity (Pop.):
Shows how well-known the special item is, the lower the better. In the Dagnia region, the first value should be used, and in other regions, it is the later value. Roll against these numbers, depending on the region you are from on, an Appraise check.

Summary
This is a summary of the effects of the special product item.

Era
Shows the era in which a special item was created. If there is an O after era, it means that there is a recipe for that item. This also means that people still know how to create those items and they recreated the old ways they were created.

Effect
The effect of the special item is described in detail.

Rank Effect and Non-Rank Effect
Effects of weapons and armor are marked as “rank effect” and “non-rank effect”. A “rank effect” is an effect that a character receives only if it has a compatible combat feat with the [Weapon Proficiency/**] or [Armor Proficiency/**] required to equip it. If you are using the rules of “Handling High STR Weapons and Armor” (see CR II: p. 41-44), if you equipped a weapon with high strength, you would not get its rank effect. On the other hand, a “non-rank effect” is an effect that a character receives, regardless of whether or not the character has acquired a compatible combat feat. Although some of these effects can be negative and limiting. In rank effects, when more than one corresponding category is listed together, it indicates that both categories are applicable. For example, if

Rank effect/Tangling, Thrown Weapon
(some kind of effect)

It’s equal to

Rank effect/Tangling
(some kind of effect)

Rank Effect/Thrown Weapon
(some kind of effect)

Critical Threshold maybe from 8 up to 12. In the case where the threshold of 8 is decreased by -1, the threshold changes to 12. Pop.: 15, Era: Ancient Magic Civilization, Sum.: Attack at the cost of life
Effect: When an attack is made using this sword, the MP of the wielder is reduced by 5, regardless of if the attack hits or misses. Once the user's MP is reduced to 0, HP begins to decrease at the same rate (with any excess MP reduction rolling over to HP). When the user's HP drops to 0 from this effect, they fall unconscious and immediately make a Death Check. This weapon has a curse with a success value of 20. If this weapon is used, a Willpower must be made immediately afterward. If the wielder fails the weapon will curse them and they will only be able to move and attack with the weapon until the battle is over. Willpower must be performed each time the weapon is used, even if it succeeds once, and if it fails after that, the wilder will be cursed until the end of the battle. The curse is automatically removed when the battle is over.
